Haves and have nots

I have used almost every kleenex in my house.
I have not had to reach for a kleenex before hitting the snooze button for the past two mornings.

I have finished making up the racing roster for the Awana Grand Prix tomorrow night.
I have not finished making my 2 dozen cookies for said race.

I have made up a to-do list for this week.
I have not completed any but two items off that list.

I have made up my second batch of laundry detergent.
I have not purchased laundry detergent since (at least) April 2008.

I have flipped my calendar to April.
I have not spent a single moment today not wondering where the time went.

A whole lotta nothing

Exactly what I have been doing today -- a whole lot of nothing. And I really needed it.

Although, technically, I was sleeping in and reading, checking my e-mail, etc.

However, the whole weekend will not be a bust. I have plans. And projects.

And I'm gonna start tomorrow. Heehee.

Really I am.

I am looking forward to having my dining room back.

Finally Thursday

With my work schedule -- I usually don't work on Friday -- Thursday is my Friday. And this weekend I don't work on Saturday either. So I have the entire weekend off.

I have a couple projects planned -- including going through the rest of my junk. But I plan on sleeping in and relaxing, maybe reading a little bit, as well.

I won't be spending my weekend as pleasantly the brother -- on the beach (now wouldn't that be nice!) -- but I think it will be a good weekend anyway.

Early to bed . . .

. . . and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.
~Benjamin Franklin

I'm working on the "early to bed" and "healthy" part.

I'm almost over my cold -- just the part where I feel the worst left. Blech. So I'm going to bed early and probably waking up late. Heehee.

A kleenex box walked into the library . . .

No, that is not the beginning of a great joke . . . although it would be a great joke. It is currently my life and the punch line . . . I have a cold.

Not the most convenient thing to have while I am trying to clean up and out, teach a class, and work at a job where I have to talk often.

I missed out singing in choir for church on Sunday as well.

The blessing in all of this:
  • this is the only time I have been sick ALL winter!

  • it is ONLY a cold!

Odds and Ends (aka Blessings in Disguise)

  • I have been reading some really good books lately. I'm kind of excited to write some reviews on them!

  • Spring is just around the corner!

  • Today was a really great day at work -- not extraordinary but great all the same!

  • I have a really fun group of students in this class of Beginning Computers for Older Adults!

  • I have the day off tomorrow!

  • I am ready to crawl into my nice cozy bed with a book!

  • Spring is just around the corner! (I said that one already didn't I? It deserves another mention!)

Big plans, big dreams

I'm a person who likes to plan. I love lists. Grocery lists, to-do lists, lists of places, lists of names, and so on.

Last summer, Mom and I planted a small vegetable garden. I'm hoping to do so again.

But tonight, I am going to plan some landscaping for my yard. Although I don't know if can really be called landscaping. More like container gardening.

So I am going to go and immerse myself in visions of flowers . . . I'll be dreaming of posies tonight!

It's a bizarre world

I met this gentleman this week, less the dog and cat. Actually, I met him last week but I didn't recognize that he was the dog walker until he had his winter jacket on this week.

He is in my Compters for Older Adults class!

Oh dear . . .

It amazes me some of the things on television.

I have been gradually weaning myself from television. I have dropped a couple of shows I "have to watch" and I have plans to drop some more.

It amazes me how much I can get done when I done tie myself to the television.

Take a breath and dive right in

Last week I took a little break from blogging. (I don't like to do that because once I stop I may never start again.) The next few weeks I may have some laconic* posts.

I have a busy month:
  • I have started teaching my Computers for Older Adults class again

  • I am cleaning out the Pit to make it bedroom-ready

  • I am sorting furniture for a garage sale (to be held at a later date -- I have no time right now!) :-)

  • I am priming and painting 2 bedrooms

  • I am moving my bedroom

  • I am moving a friend in
And those are only the activities extraordinary to my daily life!

Busyness can be a blessing, right?

One consolation . . .
. . . SPRING is almost here!

I'm moving!

Technically, I'm only switching bedrooms but it FEELS like I'm moving my entire house.

In the interest of economy, a friend is moving into one of my bedrooms. I am moving from the larger bedroom to the smaller bedroom -- otherwise known as The Pit.

In order to create an un-Pit-like bedroom, I'm going through all the clutter: tossing, storing, reorganizing, and getting ready for a garage sale.

Once all that is done, I am going to repaint and pull up the carpet (to reveal the beautiful hardwood floor).

I spent two hours working today and I am surprised at how much I got done. This is good as I only have about two weeks to finish it all!
