I finally went and ordered and eReader. I had been waiting for one with everything I was looking for: reasonable price, eInk, long battery life, and touch screen. Then I had to make sure I wouldn't go in to debt purchasing it.
I ordered it last night and now I am spending an inordinately excessive amount of time checking the shipping status! :-P
I am also preparing for my first 4th of July picnic (x2!). I'm having some friends over in the afternoon and my parents in the evening. Grilling out...good food...good fellowship.
But lots of work.
Since it is currently the hottest day of the summer so far I have decided to spend the day inside in the a/c (I'm turning it off tomorrow night--after the heatwave!) and pulling up the last of the carpet in my house. Hopefully.
But that will be after lunch.

Apparently, summer has arrived
Today, I was grateful that I work at a job that has air conditioning! It was hot enough that the school kids got dismissed from school early -- and tomorrow is the last day of school.
The house is full of hot pets. There a hot dog panting on the couch and a hot cat sprawled in the bedroom.
I am beginning to think that events in my life are beginning to slow down a bit. Well, they are either slowing or I am getting used to the fast pace . . .
I am still interim director at the library but I am hoping to be relieved of that position by the end of August. I have finished teaching adult computer classes until next fall.
The next big thing is Vacation Bible School -- starting a week from tomorrow.
But there are some exciting things coming up this summer too: a couple of new little ones are due to arrive to friends, planning a baby shower, moving to the new church building. And this fall, I am hoping to visit the brother in Florida and go to a cousin's wedding in Boston.

Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you. And when things start to happen, don’t worry. Don’t Stew. Just go right along. You’ll start happening too. ~"Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss

Stormy weather
I had to go post-less last night . . . no internet . . . rain and storms.
Really, I have nothing to complain about and everything to be thankful for. This summer's weather has been very pleasant.
I fact, today was beautiful. Definitely, walk-to-work weather! :-)

Summer time
Gone are the days where summer meant summer vacation, nothing to do but sleep in, read, and do the chores my parents have asked me at least 5 times to do.
:: sigh ::
I miss those days.
Now I have to fit all that in between my normal work routine.
But I have mad skills -- as they say (because it really doesn't sound thatgreat coming out of my mouth) -- in that area.
Last weekend was quite busy (Independence Day weekend) and this weekend I am going to visit Montauk with my mom and roommate. Then it is fair weekend . . . cotton candy, 4-H exhibits, free swag, cotton candy, cows & horses & pigs (oh my!), oh and I almost forgot, cotton candy. :-)

Hot
When I left work this evening (8pm) it was 93 degrees -- in the shade. And HUMID. Blech.
Thankfully, I work in and air-conditioned environment. And tomorrow is my long day.
Yea! For air-conditioned workplaces!

Lovin' summer
This summer has seemed to fly by! The school year is looming . . . cooler weather . . . falling leaves . . . first snow . . .
Okay, maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself.
I have to say though, I have really enjoyed this summer. The weather has been exceptional despite the week's worth of rain in the beginning. The humidity hasn't been horrible and I haven't used my a/c!
I have helped with VBS, gone to TX, been on a business trip to Des Moines, church picnic, a cookout & fireworks, game nights, movie nights, been to the zoo, visited old friends, went to the fair, and probably a lot of things I have forgotten!
I can't wait to see how this summer finishes!
