5 things I'm thankful for

I took a couple days break from blogging to enjoy the holiday with my family. I hope everyone had blessings this week.

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:16

  1. Food to eat -- especially wonderfully delicious food!

  2. Good friends -- old and new

  3. Joy in contentment

  4. Joy in the ridiculous

  5. Scripture -- especially encouraging and instructing scripture

Time flies

This week is going to fast! And keeps going faster.

But tomorrow I will be going out to the farm for some quality sister time. And by quality I mean -- I become the teasee of the family. :-D

I am also going to make up the dough for the rolls for Thursday and mix up some cinnamon rolls. Yummy!

Nothing quite like it

There's nothing quite like coming home, slipping into some cozy, comfortable clothes and curling up with a book.

Even better is doing all that with a hot cup of cocoa.

And maybe a purring kitty warming the lap.

  4. Laughter

  5. My salvation

I shall give thanks to You, for You have answered me, and You have become my salvation.

More than expected

I got more done today than I expected to. Which, to a procrastinator like me, is always a blessing. That means that much less for tomorrow!

I have a lot to get done tomorrow as I will be going with my mom to pick up the sister on Saturday. I will be working some extra hours so I will have to plan my day.

That's right folks only 2 days left!

Ah . . . the scourge of procrastination

I keep putting off all my unpleasant jobs and now they are all piled up. Even if I had more time to do them (which I don't) I would most likely procrastinate them again.

I am an unfortunate lifelong procrastinator and NOT proud of it.

The sad thing is that the jobs are not that difficult -- simply time consuming.

Bah.

And now it is time for bed.

I procrastinate (again) until tomorrow.

If you don't hear from me, you will know that I am buried by Scourge Mountain.

Starting the countdown . . .

Only four more days until the sister is here for the Thanksgiving holiday!

Only eight more days until the brother is here for the Thanksgiving holiday! That seems like a long way off but I think the time will go by fast.

I just hope it slows down while they are here!

Tomorrow it will be 3 days and 7 days!

Yea!

You Animal!

This weekend I rented the first season of the Muppet Show. I laughed and laughed and laughed.

Some of my favorite moments . . .

  1. Animal

  2. The Swedish Chef

  3. The music?

  4. A little drama

  5. Statler and Waldorf

I only watched the first disc of the first season and I can't wait to watch the rest.

I think these are some DVDs I might have to add to my collection!

5 brain boosting websites

  1. Whack-a-bone -- What better way to pass an afternoon but to remember your junior high science! Plus the funky theme song

  2. FreeRice -- Improve your mind and the world! For each correct question a portion of the advertising goes to purchase rice for the UN. I got stuck around level 40 . . . .

  3. Can you name the U.S. States? -- A geography review . . . and you don't have to know the capitals!

  4. Split Words -- Create words (within a certain theme) from syllables. It's harder than you think!

  5. PuzzlersCave -- A varieties of crossword and suduko puzzles created by members. Easy to hard. I tend to gravitate towards the easy . . . .

Playing catch up

I just passed an enjoyable three hours.

I made some country bbq ribs -- mom's recipe -- yummy.

While I was cooking ribs, I caught up on all my e-mails, readers, etc -- my dad has had my computer for the last couple days -- and watched a couple television shows I recorded.

A nice end to a dreary day.

It's that time of year

Time to start thinking about Christmas presents.

Actually it's time to think about what I'm going to make for Christmas presents. I have some ideas but I just have to implement them.

I like to make most of them -- it's just a matter of collecting all the materials and planning everything so it will be ready to send out before Christmas!

A regular Miss Fix-it

I am not the most handy of persons. I am not mechanically minded. I don't have much practical sense.

But I can follow directions and I am quick to catch onto something I am shown how to do.

So when I am able to fix my vacuum cleaner with no assistance I consider it to be a red letter day.

Today is a red letter day!! Yeah.

Of course, for me to fix the vacuum I had to have broken it first. But I will ignore that minuscule detail and focus on the BIG picture here:

Today I unscrewed four screws from the bottom panel of my vacuum, put a new belt on to the thingy (heehee -- I never claimed to know the correct fix-it vocabulary) and then re-screwed the four screws into the bottom panel of my vacuum.

TaDa! It works.

A little joy in my day!

This week's project

My mission this week is to clean out my closet.

Well, my closet, the pile of clothes that don't fit in my closet, and the pile of mending that hasn't been mended yet.

My goal is to fit all of my clothes into my closet in a way that will be easy for me to access and easy for me to put away. You hear that Self? After this week there will be no more laying things on the chair until later.

I have decided to do this project because 1) I have way too many clothes 2) I don't wear half of them 3) to eliminate clutter in my bedroom 4) to allow myself to find the clothes I want when I want them.

Sounds like a simple project, no?

We shall see . . .

Early night

I got up early this morning so I could go and vote before work.

So I am going to go to bed early . . .

Tomorrow we will have a president elect.

I think I will wait until then to find out who . . .

Thrice blessed

Blessed -- divinely or supremely favored or fortunate; bringing happiness and thankfulness

Blessed by relying on God:
I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the LORD; the humble will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces will never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them. Taste and see that the LORD is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! O fear the LORD, you His saints; for to those who fear Him there is no want. The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; but they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing. Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Who is the man who desires life and loves length of days that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:1-14 (emphasis mine)

Blessed by knowing God:
How blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD. How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, who seek Him with all their heart. They also do no unrighteousness; they walk in His ways. You have ordained Your precepts, that we should keep them diligently. Oh that my ways may be established to keep Your statutes! Then I shall not be ashamed when I look upon all Your commandments. I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, when I learn Your righteous judgments. I shall keep Your statutes; do not forsake me utterly! Psalm 119:1-8 (emphasis mine)

Blessed by praising God:
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the LORD Himself is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100 (emphasis mine)

Thanksgiving -- the act of giving thanks; an expression of thanks; public celebration in acknowledgment of divine favor

Thankful -- feeling or expressing gratitude or appreciation
